Of Plans and Purpose

I love it when a plan comes together. That’s the catch phrase of one of my childhood heroes, John “Hannibal” Smith of the A-Team. Actually, my real hero was Mr. T., who played heavy muscle and mechanical genius B. A. Barracus of the aforementioned team, but “I pity the fool” doesn’t really play into today’s blog post. And truth be told I’m stretching Hannibal’s catch phrase because in all honesty I’m not much of a planner. I just sort of head off on a particular path and then revel afterwards about how everything seems to fall into place of it’s… Read More »

The Walking Dead

Today is day 12 of the 90 day diet Eric Hulse prescribed for me to combat an elevated blood pressure and a handful of minor issues I consider less than seemly for someone who seeks to position himself as a leader in the fitness industry. Despite the title of this post I am still alive and feeling much better thank you. That god awful “kill all the things” attitude that took over my psyche weekend before last has passed. I’m no longer surly and bitchy, I’m just tired. I spent the better part of the weekend on the couch catching… Read More »

85 days…and counting

So, by my count I have 85 days left in this diet Eric Hulse has prescribed for me. I have never wanted a summer to pass so quickly before. At present I feel like shit. My muscles feel flat, my energy is low and every little ache and pain is glaringly apparent. Oh yeah, and my attitude and general demeanor are shitty, too. If you can’t tell I’m an absolute joy to be around and here we are just five days in. The first part of the week wasn’t so bad but I totally bottomed out on Friday. I don’t… Read More »

What the f*ck do I put on my potato?

A few weeks ago I told you all about hiring Eric Hulse to help me with some health issues. After a visit to my doctor earlier this spring I got back some blood work that I felt, as a professional in the health and fitness industry, was less than stellar. My blood pressure hovers at borderline high, as does my A1-C1 or blood sugar levels. My energy levels are not as high as I’d like them and to be honest, neither is my libido. Last fall, when I stopped intermittent fasting, I saw a jump in body weight that I… Read More »

Larry is no stranger to the process of transformation. While living in Chicago he trained and competed in powerlifting. After moving to Chattanooga, away from his family and… Read More »

Eric Hulse Revisited

I have a confession. I’m not as healthy as I thought I was. A month or so ago I had some blood work done. Nothing’s outright bad, but neither is it as good as it should be for a man of my profession and knowledge. My blood pressure is borderline high. So’s my cholesterol. Testosterone is borderline low. WTF? I mean, I thought I was doing all the right things. My diet is good. I exercise regularly. I average seven to eight hours of sleep a night. What gives? After the interview I did with Elliott’s younger brother, Eric Hulse,… Read More »

Kevin Sheerin

Say hello to my good friend and fellow Strengthology Coach Kevin Sheerin. Kevin lives in Dublin, Ireland and for a young man of 24 years has seen quite a bit of life. Before getting himself into fitness Kevin was a career poker player who played for BIG stakes. The downside of this is that in order to be successful he had to spend all day most days sitting in front of his computer, playing cards. That meant a very sedentary lifestyle and diet consistent of almost exclusively fast food, most often delivery. After reaching a crisis point with his weight… Read More »
